Welcome to the website of the Fresno Bonsai Society.

The purpose of the Fresno Bonsai Society is to expand the knowledge and skills of Bonsai within its members while offering opportunities for appreciation of this art form to the broader community. We do this through the inspiration of the beauty of the natural world and the rich cultural heritage of Bonsai.

There is a new article in the blogs section entitled  "AN APPROACH TO ORGANIZING A BONSAI GARDEN"  Good Information. Check it out. Go to the main menu to the left and mouse over BONSAI KNOWLEDGE and click on BLOGS.  You will find this article on the bottom of the page.

The next meeting of the FBS will be Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at 10AM at the DaSilva home in Fowler. The address is 6470 East Manning Avenue, just west of Highway 99.

This will be a combined meeting of the entire club, the Shohin Study Group and the Bonsai Basics class. There will be a demonstration of forest planting and members will create forest plantings for sale at the Spring Fundraiser.

The Bonsai Basics Class will learn the reasons for and methods of transplanting bonsai as we enter the transplanting season. Steve DaSilva will also tour his bonsai growing fields and several different species of trees will be available for sale.

This meeting will be a potluck lunch. The club will provide hot dogs and brauts and the members will bring a salad, dish to pass, or dessert.

If you are curious about bonsai, this is your opportunity to learn more. Visitors are always welcome. The price of admission is a casserole or salad to pass.

Ever wonder what you should be doing for your Bonsai on any given month of the year?  Well that is why we have an Almanac on our web site.  It explains month to month when you should:  re-pot, wire, prune, etc.

Our club meets the second Saturday of each month from September through June.  The meeting places may vary according to seasons and activities each month, check the newsletter for details.

We are very fortunate to hold our meetings in the beautiful Shinzen Japanese Garden.  We cordially invite you to visit us at our next meeting and look forward to seeing you.

Our website contains a wealth of information about our club, bonsai related articles, plus a wealth of information on the care of bonsai.  If you don't find the answer to your question you can contact someone personally by going to the Contact Us page and send us an e-mail and one of our experienced members will respond.
